Matilda Frances - working on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja
Creating handcrafted solid sterling silver jewelery using traditional silversmithing techniques - built to last.

Apprenticed by my beloved grandpa Graeme over the past 5 years, I have been silversmithing out of his small backyard studio. He taught me the processes of casting, soldering and fusing silver. I am ever inspired by his creative mind, patience, love for nature and his many skills in fixing and repurposing.

The Process
Studio Frances pieces are all solid 925 sterling silver (not plated) - this means they are highly durable, can be worn in all conditions and will only get better over time.

All creations are made by hand, through soldering and fusing silver, or through a process called Delft clay/sand casting. This process began in the city of Delft in the Netherlands where a goldsmith used the natural clay found in the region as a casting mould to create his works. This casting process is a lost art form, not used by many jewellers. It takes time and each piece casts with slight imperfections; making Studio Frances creations particularly unique.

Sustainability
Sustainability is at the core of my practice. Studio Frances pieces are made to order, or sold as a one-off creation to reduce wastage - a sustainable alternative to mass-produced jewellery.

Jewellery that stands the test of time; resisting trend cycles and overconsumption. Studio Frances offers a warranty on all pieces. There is also the option to repurpose your old sterling silver jewellery to give it a new lease of life. Hand in your old sterling silver pieces to be recycled into a new creation and receive a discount on your next purchase - email to arrange.
